This course has not only given me a lot of practical knowledge, but also made me think about what my future as a filmmaker is going to be like. I thought about a couple of things I want to focus on in the nearest future.
First of all, I want to explore new topics for filmmaking. Recently, all of my films have somehow been about feminism. As much as I am motivated by its original ideas and support the movement, I want to look for new sources of creative inspiration, to add diversity in my films.
Moreover, I want to continue searching for unconventional editing techniques. Editing is one of my favorite parts of film production and I want to grow in this direction, exploring existing techniques and changing them for better.
Mostly due to corona virus, I was forced to work with real people around me, rather than actors. Surprisingly, I found this being more interesting for me. Capturing real situations and emotions is way more unpredictable than working from script, and therefore, more engaging and breathtaking for me.
Lastly, but most importantly, I want to collaborate with other film directors. Not only this would allow me to have another perspective on the work, but would also provoke debate and discussion, which would help to shape an idea in its perfect form. Moreover, if I were to work with or for someone, who is already a successful filmmaker, it would show me right away what is needed to be one of them, saving me a lot of time of self-discovery. It’s always best to learn from the best.
Summing up, identifying these simple steps helped me to build a rough plan, which would help me achieve my goals more efficiently and in the less amount of time.
